After driving through the Highlands, we decided to head south to the town of Oban. Oban is a village of approximately 8,500 and is known as the 'Gateway to the Isles'. The town's south pier is the embarkation point for car ferries to Mull, Coll, Tiree, Barra, South Uist, Colonsay, Lismore and Islay. From these islands you can travel further afield to Iona, Staffa and to many of the smaller less well known isles.
We thouroughly enjoyed our time in Oban. We ate a late afternoon lunch at a local pub, and of course we had to try a bit of Scottish Ale, and Susie had Fish and Chips! For anyone visiting Scotland, Oban is a 'must see'.
